If you're going to have a pre-season friendly, then I say, start with a good one. Not necessarily in the quality of the football(although it was pretty decent), but in the local rivalry, the desire to impress, and in the quality of banter.

An excellent turnout in unseasonably chilly conditions was the perfect occasion for showing off a recently spruced up Grant Street Park. The ground staff, and behind the scenes crew had done an excellent job, and the playing surface looked lush and inviting for the season ahead. The Ferry San Siro is getting back to its best.

A slight delay in the kick-off time allowed the fans, queueing around the corner, to get in without missing too much of the action. Blimey, round the corner queues! When was the last time that happened? With many of the ICT fans wondering what kind of team they were going to see, there was much interest for even the most neutral Inverness football follower. Perhaps, some of those fans might even be tempted to a change of allegiance. You know it makes sense.

What we saw today were the Mighty Lilywhites entering the arena in a cracking new traditional type strip, led out by our Club Captain Harry Nicolson and his team of warriors. Some regular faces were joined by new ones, and pre-season training must be going okay, because they all looked fit and ready for action.

But you must excuse me. I'm old, so it might take me a while to put names onto faces.
